About Group Open Water Diver

Columbus Scuba is excited to start your Open Water certification adventure! We have a staff of over 60 professionals with numerous years of experience and qualifications. We offer top of the line industry leading gear at the lowest price you will find- even on the Internet! We train with newer, industry leading equipment. Our Open Water courses include eLearning and gear rental* (Students are required to provide their own mask, fins and snorkel). All of our Open Water courses include scheduled Open Water Dives completed over two days or while on vacation.

We certify through PADI – the World’s largest and most recognized agency in the world – wherever you travel your PADI certification card will be recognized! While all agencies teach to set standards, Columbus Scuba’s high training standards is what puts us in the Top Five stores in North America out of 1800 stores!

Join others in your underwater adventure! Our scheduled group lessons are limited to six (with a 1:3 ratio or less) so you will never be a number. In this four week (once a week) course you will become confident with the 24 skills you need to proceed to certification.

The Open Water course has three segments:
• Academics: Through eLearning you will learn the basics of diving techniques, how diving affects your body, diving safety, equipment selection and maintenance, dive planning, and preview the skills you’ll learn in the water.

• Confined Water: (pool sessions) In a pool you’ll learn all the basic skills you’ll need to be confident and safe to enjoy scuba diving.

• Open Water Dives: (open body of water, such as a clear quarry or ocean). Here you’ll practice all the skills you’ve already mastered in confined water out in open water.

Academic

Each participant will be issued the PADI Open Water eLearning program.  PADI’s eLearning program is the most thorough and comprehensive digital training available.  Understanding the physics and physiology of scuba diving are instrumental in learning how to dive safely.

Watch, listen, read, scroll, tap and interact while you learn to scuba dive with PADI Open Water Diver eLearning. It’s fun, it’s easy, it’s portable and it’s your entry to the underwater world as a scuba diver.

Open Water Diver eLearning integrates the PADI Open Water Diver Manual with the PADI Open Water Diver Video into a powerful, computer-based learning experience. When you dive in, you’ll:

  • Learn diving facts, principles and safety concepts in preparation for your confined and open water dives.
  • Watch video clips that show you the world of scuba diving.
  • Take simple quizzes to make sure you understand the material as you progress.

Required Equipment

Columbus Scuba provides BCD, Regulator, Tanks, Weights and exposure protection (wetsuits, hood and gloves when necessary) for all our recreational courses. We ask students to provide mask, fins, and snorkel, as these are personal fitting pieces of equipment required by dive schools for successful training. Most often,  equipment that can be purchased through a “sporting goods stores” is inadequate for Scuba use and is more appropriate for the occasional snorkeler.

Stop in and we will show you what to look for and offer you a fitting session whether you decide to purchase from us or not.  Having proper fitting equipment is ever so important to your success as a scuba diver.

Columbus Scuba offers discounts to our students and will meet or beat any any online authorized dealer pricing.
