Jose grew up in the deep south of Pharr, Texas. He took his open water course in 2018 when his wife bought it for him as a Christmas present. As soon as he took his first breath underwater, he was hooked. His favorite dive course he has taken so far was the Sidemount course, because of the freedom of movement and the ability to stay down longer (with double the gas!). The sidemount configuration also gives him redundancy, which is key to moving on to more technical courses. Jose’s goals for future diving include getting his Cave certification and becoming an Open Water Instructor.
